  • Hey Webmasters! New Photo Album Service Launched - Check it out!

Hey!

Well finally the Heard has a site up and running in its very basic and unglam form. However we hope to improve upon this as time goes on and I am sure we will become suave buisness types, but for the moment we will appear in cyberspace as unintelligent hippies (sorry just joking...no offense to the hippies..).

If you do have any suggestions about how the site could be improved then please feel free to contribute. But please contain yourself as I know you are bursting to point out the many (seemingly obvious) things I could have done to make this website hip.

I will get the vote casting thing sorted too because I feel a pressing need to discover whether the youth of today like jammy dodgers or chocolate biscuits more (I know it is a very hard decision). Also this tool will be used for a productive purpose, to discover young peoples views on mental health and its surrounding issues.

Thanks very much for giving up your precious time to read this! Hopefully if you are a York dweller we may meet you in the near future:)

Rachael (Member of the Heard).

contacting 'The Heard':

Call the Youth Enquiry service York-  (01904) 613161

or e-mail TheHrd@aol.co.uk

(e-mail is probably the swiftest form of contact!)

alternatively you could go to the top of cliffords tower or the minster and shout 'The Heard' and hope some one hears you...its fab advertising for us!

Welcome!

You're probably wondering who on earth we are, well let me explain...

It all started some months ago with a group of fairly ordinary young people (16-25) from the fine city of York. This diverse collective of individuals united to make a dvd, in the beginning. The dvd was to feature young people who had, had experience of the mental health services in York. So this faithful band of energetic youthful types met regularly under the pretense of creating an educational dvd (however we all harboured secret desires to be stars of the stage and screen). Sadly the short film was not destined for Hollywood but it did however 'go down a treat' with the mental health services in York.

Since the first showing of the dvd we soon realised that there was quite a need, within York, for a group of young people who were willing to engage with the mental health (MH) services in York. By engaging with the MH services and other young people we hope to:

  • Improve the services for the future.
  • Raise awareness of MH issues for young people.

That really is it in short.

Oh and one more thing, if you have had experience of the mental health services in York and you are 16-25 years old then WE NEED YOU!
